How Paradisus Wedding Packages Work

Paradisus by Meliá calls their wedding packages Destino Signatures — five themed package tiers available at all five properties. Each package is a complete wedding program, not a bare ceremony framework. The entry-level tier (It Takes Two or a Few) is complimentary with a qualifying stay. The four paid tiers add progressively more production: styled ceremony décor, private cocktail and dinner receptions, live music or DJ, fireworks, spa treatments, and — at three properties — a sunset yacht ceremony on the sea.

All five packages include the same core: symbolic ceremony, minister, wedding cake, sparkling wine toast, bridal bouquet, boutonniere, and an on-site wedding coordinator. What differentiates the tiers is the reception production — length, menu complexity, entertainment, décor level, and spa inclusions. Packages are for 30 guests by default (or 12 for It Takes Two); additional guests are priced per head. The All Aboard yacht ceremony is the only package that breaks the venue model entirely — the ceremony takes place on a private boat at sea.

Important: Package prices vary by property and are updated periodically. Prices shown throughout this guide are the confirmed 2026 rates from current sources at each individual property. Always confirm current pricing with VFL before making any decisions — pricing is subject to change.
Package Base Price* Guests Extra/Guest* Signature Element
It Takes Two or a Few Complimentary* 12 guests $10/guest Intimate elopement · ceremony + dinner
No Shoes Allowed $6,700–$7,500 30 guests $140–$150 Barefoot beach · LED lights · fairytale lighting
Nature Vibes $7,000–$8,500 30 guests $150–$180 Tropical floral arch · nature-forward aesthetic
Go Out With A Bang $9,000–$12,000 30 guests $205–$240 Fireworks · live music or DJ · couples spa
All Aboard ★ $13,000–$32,000 30 guests $250–$280 Sunset yacht ceremony · available at 3 of 5 properties

*Complimentary requires qualifying room block (varies by property). Paid package prices vary by property — lowest and highest confirmed 2026 rates shown. Confirm with VFL.

The single most important thing to understand about Paradisus packages: Every paid package includes a private cocktail hour and a private 3-hour dinner reception with open bar from No Shoes Allowed upward. You are not paying for a ceremony-only event — you are paying for a full wedding day production. The difference between tiers is the level of production: décor complexity, entertainment (live music vs DJ), spa inclusions, and — for the top two tiers — fireworks and the yacht experience.

It Takes Two or a Few — The Complimentary Package

Complimentary*
With qualifying stay
Up to 12 guests
$10 per additional guest
All 5 properties
Complimentary ceremony covers up to 30 guests; first 12 free tier

What's Included

Ceremony

  • ✓ Symbolic ceremony at chosen venue
  • ✓ Minister of Peace
  • ✓ Basic ceremony setup + arch
  • ✓ Bridal bouquet + boutonniere
  • ✓ Wedding cake
  • ✓ Sparkling wine toast

Post-Ceremony

  • ✓ Semi-private dinner reservation (up to 12)
  • ✓ Special room decoration
  • ✓ Honeymoon amenities
  • ✓ On-site wedding coordinator
Who It Takes Two is right for: Elopement couples (2–12 guests) wanting a genuine beach or gazebo ceremony in a 5-star resort without the production cost of the paid tiers. Also ideal for couples who are legally married at home and want a symbolic vow renewal abroad with immediate family only. The complimentary status requires a qualifying room block — at La Esmeralda and La Perla, the minimum is 30 room nights. At other properties, qualifying stay terms vary. Confirm with VFL for your specific date and property.
Note on the "complimentary" tier: The complimentary ceremony covers up to 30 guests at a baseline level at most properties — the first 12 guests are fully complimentary in the It Takes Two tier; each guest beyond 12 is $10. The paid tiers begin at 30 guests with a significantly higher production level. Couples choosing It Takes Two should understand they will not receive a private cocktail hour or private dinner reception — only a semi-private restaurant reservation. For any group over 12 wanting a private reception, No Shoes Allowed is the correct starting point.

Who No Shoes Allowed is right for: Couples who want a proper private reception (cocktail hour + 3-hour dinner) at an entry paid price point. The barefoot beach aesthetic — natural materials, LED ambient lighting, fairytale lights — suits couples who want warmth and ambiance over formal elegance. At $6,700–$7,500 for 30 guests ($223–$250/head including all ceremony and reception), it is the most cost-efficient full-day private wedding experience in the Paradisus portfolio. Best for: beach ceremony + informal dinner reception · groups of 15–50 guests · couples prioritizing the beach setting over entertainment production.

  • ✓ Ambient LED + fairytale lights
  • Romantic breakfast next morning
  • ✓ Special room decoration + turndown service
  • ✓ Honeymoon amenities
  • ✓ 15% YHI Spa discount
Nature Vibes vs No Shoes Allowed — the key differences: Nature Vibes adds the tropical floral arch (the most distinctive ceremony visual element at Paradisus), an upgraded dinner menu, the romantic breakfast the next morning, and the 15% YHI Spa discount — at approximately $300–$1,000 more than No Shoes Allowed depending on property. The floral arch is the biggest visual differentiator in ceremony photos. If the ceremony backdrop matters more than entertainment, Nature Vibes is the right upgrade from No Shoes Allowed. If entertainment matters more, skip to Go Out With A Bang instead.

Go Out With A Bang — The Full-Production Package

$9,000 – $12,000

  • Fireworks or cold pyrotechnics — grand exit
  • Couples massage at YHI Spa
  • ✓ Premium LED lighting + enhanced décor
  • ✓ Bridal suite access
  • ✓ Special room decoration + amenities
Who Go Out With A Bang is right for: Couples who want the complete wedding production — entertainment (live band or DJ) + a dramatic fireworks or pyrotechnics moment + the couples spa experience — in a single package. This is the right tier for couples who want the "wedding night feel" of dancing and a grand finale moment. At $9,000–$12,000 for 30 guests it represents the best value in the top-production tier across all five properties. The $9,000 Palma Real version is particularly compelling — full fireworks, live music or DJ, and couples spa at the lowest price of any Go Out With A Bang in the portfolio.
Fireworks vs. cold pyrotechnics — what's the difference: Traditional fireworks are aerial explosive displays requiring permits and clear skies. Cold pyrotechnics (also called cold spark machines or indoor sparklers) are ground-level metallic spark effects that are safe for indoor use, do not require the same permits, and work regardless of wind. Both create a dramatic visual moment. At outdoor venues with clear skies, traditional fireworks are more spectacular. For indoor Ballroom receptions or venues where traditional fireworks aren't permitted, cold pyrotechnics are an excellent substitute. VFL confirms which version is available at your venue and date.

How to choose your All Aboard property: If budget is the primary consideration and you want the yacht ceremony experience at the lowest possible price — Palma Real ($13,000). If you want maximum Caribbean accessibility (direct flights from most U.S. cities, 15 min airport transfer) and the newly renovated resort experience — Cancún ($14,000), just $1,000 more than Palma Real. If the backdrop is the primary consideration and budget is secondary — Los Cabos ($32,000), with the dramatic Sea of Cortez and Baja desert rock formations creating the most visually distinctive All Aboard setting of the three. Note: Los Cabos carries an $18,000 premium over Cancún for what is visually a different setting but functionally the same yacht ceremony concept.

Key Policies — What You Need to Know Before Booking

80% Resort-Stay Requirement

At least 80% of all wedding guests must be registered guests staying at the resort. For a 50-guest wedding, 40 must be in-resort guests. The remaining 20% can attend as day-pass guests. Day-pass rates are confirmed at time of booking.

Deposit to Hold Date

A $500–$800 deposit is required to secure your wedding date at Paradisus. The amount varies by property — $500 at most Mexico properties, $800 at Palma Real. The deposit is applied to your final balance.

External Supplier Fee

Paradisus works with a certified local vendor list. If you bring a photographer, videographer, or other vendor not on the approved list, an external supplier fee applies. The fee varies by property — at some it is $1,000 USD. Confirm with VFL before booking your photographer.

Weather Contingency

The wedding cannot be canceled due to rain — it will be moved to an alternate indoor venue (Ballroom or equivalent). All Aboard yacht ceremonies have a resort contingency venue if weather prevents yacht departure. Contingency venue is confirmed in the event contract.

Entertainment Curfew

Outdoor venues generally enforce an 11 PM entertainment curfew. Indoor Ballroom venues may allow entertainment until 10 PM or later. La Esmeralda / La Perla's Cypress Ballroom permits entertainment until 3 AM — the latest curfew of any venue in the Paradisus portfolio. Confirm with VFL for your specific venue and date.

DR $800 Surcharge (Palma Real only)

The Dominican Republic charges a mandatory $800 government fee for legal civil ceremonies. This applies only at Palma Real — all Mexico properties have no surcharge. Symbolic ceremony avoids the fee entirely and is visually identical. All Aboard at Palma Real is a symbolic ceremony — no surcharge.

Common Add-Ons Beyond the Package

All Paradisus packages are starting points — most couples add at least some of the following elements beyond what's included. VFL coordinates all add-on pricing as part of your full wedding quote.

Additional guests (per-head charge) Venue fee (beach + Malva Terrace + Colonial Plaza) Upgraded floral centerpieces Wedding photographer (approved or + external fee) Videographer Hair & makeup (bridal salon) Additional spa treatments (beyond couples massage) Rehearsal dinner (private restaurant buyout) Welcome bags for guest rooms DJ for cocktail hour (if not included in package) Upgraded wedding cake design Dance floor rental (outdoor venues) Legal civil ceremony judge fee (Mexico properties) DR $800 government surcharge (Palma Real · legal only)
How to budget realistically: A realistic total wedding budget at Paradisus typically runs 1.4–1.8× the base package price once venue fees, additional guests, photography, hair/makeup, and upgrades are added. A No Shoes Allowed base package at $7,000 for a 50-guest group will typically land at $12,000–$15,000 all-in once additional guests ($140–$150 × 20 additional = $2,800–$3,000), photography, and venue fee are added. VFL provides a complete line-item quote so you see the full picture before committing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I upgrade my package after I've booked?
Yes — package upgrades are generally possible up to a certain point before the wedding date, subject to the resort's availability for the upgraded elements (live music, fireworks permits, yacht availability for All Aboard). Downgrades are more restricted once contracts are signed. VFL advises on the upgrade timeline at your specific property during the planning process. Book the package you're confident about rather than booking low and assuming you can upgrade — the upgrade path is not always guaranteed.
What's the difference between a symbolic and a legal ceremony — and does it affect which package I choose?
All five Paradisus packages include a symbolic ceremony by default — the Minister of Peace performs a ceremony that is visually and emotionally identical to a legal ceremony but has no legal standing in Mexico or the Dominican Republic. A legal civil ceremony (using a civil judge) is available as an add-on at all Mexico properties at an additional charge. In the Dominican Republic (Palma Real), legal civil ceremonies also carry the mandatory $800 government surcharge. The choice of symbolic vs. legal does not affect which package tier you choose — any package can be performed as either ceremony type.
Why is the Go Out With A Bang so much cheaper at Palma Real ($9,000) than Cancún ($12,000)?
Package pricing at Paradisus is set independently per property based on local market conditions, operating costs, and competitive positioning. Palma Real in Punta Cana competes in the Dominican Republic market against Barceló Bávaro Palace and other large-scale DR all-inclusive resorts, requiring more competitive pricing. Cancún properties compete in the Mexico Hotel Zone market, which carries different cost structures. The inclusions in Go Out With A Bang are essentially the same at both properties — fireworks, live music or DJ, couples spa, and a 3-hour gourmet reception. At $9,000, the Palma Real version is the best value Go Out With A Bang in the entire Paradisus portfolio.
Are packages available at Playa del Carmen the same as at Cancún and Palma Real?
La Esmeralda and La Perla (Playa del Carmen) offer the same 4 base package tiers as all other Paradisus properties — It Takes Two, No Shoes Allowed, Nature Vibes, and Go Out With A Bang — but the All Aboard yacht ceremony is not available. The Playa del Carmen properties have a different minimum qualifying requirement for the complimentary tier — 30 room nights minimum (vs. a qualifying stay at other properties). The Cypress Ballroom at the Playa del Carmen complex (entertainment until 3 AM) is a unique asset not available at any other Paradisus property — making the PDC properties the best choice for couples who want very late-night reception entertainment.
Can I use an outside photographer at a Paradisus property?
Yes, but an external supplier fee applies if your photographer is not on the resort's certified local vendor list. The fee varies by property — it can be up to $1,000 USD. Budget this cost from the start if you have a specific photographer in mind who may not be on the approved list. VFL can advise on the current approved vendor list at your property and help you evaluate whether a particular photographer is approved or requires the external fee. Many approved photographers at Paradisus properties are experienced, high-quality vendors — don't assume the approved list is limiting before seeing it.
