Packing for an all-inclusive destination wedding is unlike packing for a normal trip, because you are carrying formalwear, beachwear, and documents at the same time. Most of what goes wrong is predictable: attire in a checked bag, a missing document, or shoes that sink into the sand. Here are checklists for the couple and for guests, plus what to add for the season (see the best time for a destination wedding, month by month) and what an all-inclusive resort already provides (see what's included in an all-inclusive destination wedding).

The Five Things That Never Go in a Checked Bag
Checked bags get delayed, and a delayed bag can mean no dress on the wedding day. Anything you cannot replace in 24 hours goes in your carry-on.
Wedding attire
The dress or suit, plus a full backup outfit for the ceremony. Check your airline's carry-on rules for garment bags.
Rings and jewelry
Keep them on you, not in any bag you hand over.
Passports and documents
Passports, confirmations, insurance details, and marriage documents if you are having a legal ceremony.
Medications
Prescriptions in their original containers, plus anything you would struggle to replace abroad.
Phone and power banks
Spare lithium batteries and power banks must travel in your carry-on, not in checked bags.
The Packing Checklist
Choose your role, then check items off as you pack. Your progress is saved in this browser, and you can print the list for your suitcase.

Add to Your Bag by Season
The checklist above covers every trip. These are the extras that depend on when you travel. For month-by-month conditions and storm timing, see our best time for an all-inclusive destination wedding guide.
| When | What to expect | Add to your bag |
|---|---|---|
| December to April | Dry and sunny, with cooler evenings. Lows can drop to around 70°F on the Mexican Caribbean coast in winter. | A light wrap or layer for evening ceremonies, and strong sun protection |
| May to mid-August (Caribbean side) | Hot, humid, with afternoon showers, and seaweed on some Caribbean-facing beaches | Quick-dry fabrics, an extra outfit for humidity, a light rain jacket, and humidity-proof hair products |
| Mid-August to mid-October | The peak storm window, with wet weather and possible travel disruption | A waterproof pouch for documents and your phone, paper copies, your insurance details, and a power bank |
| November | A transition month, with rain easing and dry weather returning | A light rain jacket, just in case |
| June to October (Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta) | Hot and humid, with summer rains and the Pacific storm season | The same extras as the summer and storm rows, plus lightweight fabrics |
What You Can Skip at an All-Inclusive Resort
You do not need to pack everything you would take to a standard hotel. All-inclusive resorts and wedding packages typically cover several items, so confirm with your resort before you buy duplicates.
A Simple Packing Timeline
4 to 6 weeks out
Check passports, confirm the dress code and the week's schedule, ask the coordinator about décor and vendor items, and buy travel insurance.
2 weeks out
Finish alterations, lay out outfits, check your airline's carry-on rules, and tell your bank you are traveling.
1 week out
Check the forecast, pack from the checklist, and save copies of your documents on your phone and on paper.
The day before
Charge devices, weigh your bags, and load the carry-on: attire, rings, documents, medications, and a backup outfit.
