Puerto Vallarta lies on the same latitude as the Hawaiian Islands, sitting in the middle of the largest bay in Mexico named Banderas Bay- 26 miles from tip to tip. This idyllic tourist destination offers similar climate to Hawaii with more then 300 days of sun and an average temperature of 77 ºF. During the sunny dry season, from November to May, daytime temperatures average 80˚ to 85 ºF and there is virtually no rain. At night, the temperature drops 55˚ to 65 ºF, which is ideal for sleeping, but you may want to pack a shawl or light jacket. The hotter, humid rainy season lasts from June to October.

North of the river, the Old Town meanders uphill to Gringo Gulch and along the bay where you’ll find the main square and Los Arcos amphitheatre where daily free performances draw crowds.
Puerto Vallarta’s renowned Malecón (promenade) runs from the Romantic Zone to the start of the Hotel Zone. Here you’ll find a quaint collection of bronze sculptures, including the town’s iconic seahorse. Here in downtown you'll find Puerto Vallarta's parish Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, a city icon, it dominates Vallarta's downtown skyline and is one of the favorite symbols and landmarks of the city, topped with an elaborate crown.
Further north are the Hotel Zone and Marina where many resorts and restaurants are located. Nearby you'll also find Riviera Nayarit with charming towns such as Bucerias and Sayulita and many first class resorts.
Once you get away from the beach, Puerto Vallarta’s hilly cobblestone streets seem to merge into the green foothills of the Sierra Madre Mountains. The Cuale River, which divides Puerto Vallarta in half, flows down from the mountains and empties into the Pacific.
